Street smart, irreverent, controversial and bilingual, Mencia first took on the issue six years ago when the album, his major-label debut, was originally released. What he had to say then is as fresh and in-your-face as today’s headlines. So Take A Joke America again, this time in both Spanglish Parental Advisory version and a clean edit. And by clean we mean the sound is not distorted.

Carlos takes on race relations, the police, immigration laws, religion and the mentally challenged. You will either be wincing or laughing, but either way, he doesn’t really care, because as Carlos is quick to point out, if you ain’t laughing, you ain't living.

In Season 1, Carlos figures out his footing. In Season 2, Carlos makes up for lost ground. If there is a person to offend, if there is a situation to make people uncomfortable, if their is a burr in his butt, Carlos Mencia lets it all out and look out anybody who gets in his way. You would think they would ban people for doing this on TV. So far he's getting away with it.

This CD was recorded in 2003 and represents the set Carlos was doing at the time in clubs and colleges around the US. There are a lot of old bits which might sound familiar to new fans.

Carlos Mencia somehow finds a way to make jokes about Asians, whites, Arabs, and African Americans, but he rarely says anything that makes the viewer cringe. Somehow, the manic comic makes the person he's making fun of feel he's in on the joke. It's almost as if you've heard it before.

Carlos does a masterful job of combining comedy with a serious message. He is funny and irreverant. He uses lots of profanity & explicit situations all to his advantage. He is equally opportunistic in his jokes towards all people- because the final message here is this: Laugh & love at ourselves & be tolerant of all people, no matter what color they are or where they are from. I have seen him do stand up on TV as well & he is just as funny on this CD. Seeing him is always a treat, but he transfers very well to audio.
